2025-2026 President’s Message

2025-2026 President’s Message

by Sarah Maloney

I’m truly honored and excited to serve as your President this year. As we begin another school year filled with opportunities, growth, and learning, I want to remind you that the San Diego County Association of School Psychologists (SANDCASP) is here to support you every step of the way. We are united by a shared commitment to our students, their families, and the greater San Diego community.

First, I’d like to express heartfelt appreciation to our 2024–2025 board members. Their dedication, time, and leadership helped shape a strong foundation for the year ahead. I’m thrilled to be working alongside many returning board members and excited to welcome new faces to our team. Our board brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm, and together we are energized to lead SANDCASP into a productive and impactful year. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be spotlighting each of our amazing 2025-2026 board members so you can get to know the people leading our organization. Stay tuned!

At SANDCASP, our mission is clear: to equip school psychologists with the tools, training, and support they need to meet student needs and better the learning environment for all. Whether it’s academic, emotional, social, or behavioral support, we are here to champion comprehensive, equitable services that make a difference.

The SANDCASP board will be updating our members regularly on our social/networking events, psych to psych consult events, lunchtime learning opportunities, and workshops. We are kicking off the year with a Law and Ethics Series with Mr. Josh Walden, J.D., from Lozano Smith and Dr. Gina Beaman, Psy.D., and Ms. Melissa Wood, M.Ed., M.A., CASP Ethics Committee Co-Chairs, on September 5th and 8th. The fabulous news is that this series is FREE to our members AND the series counts towards the Law & Ethics CEU requirements for LEPs! We’re also excited to share that the 2025 CASP Convention will be held in our neighboring Orange County in Garden Grove, October 28-31, 2025, and registration is NOW OPEN! I hope to see many of you there!

As your SANDCASP President, I am committed to advancing professional development opportunities, delivering valuable content across our media platforms, and fostering a sense of community among school psychologists in our county. One of my personal goals this year is to grow our membership, so please help spread the word about the value of SANDCASP and invite a colleague to join us!

Finally, I encourage each of you to prioritize your own well-being this year. Take time for self-care and reflection. Let’s support one another in this work and continue to elevate the profession together.

Thank you for your dedication, and I look forward to connecting with you at our upcoming events.

Here’s to a great 2025–2026 school year!

Warm regards,
Sarah Maloney
